4 Must Read Books to Add to Your Reading List this Summer

With July just around the corner, we’re almost officially halfway through 2023. The beginning of Summer  is an excellent marker to stop and reflect, both personally and professionally. For your own growth mindset development, here are 4 Leadology recommended books to add to your summer reading list.

I’ve made an effort to do some introspection at this point in the year because my birthday is also July 9th, making it the perfect time to do some much-needed inventory. With that said, I’m incredibly excited to share a list of books today that have inspired me to continue developing a growth mindset in both personal and professional areas of my life. So, let’s get right to it!

The 4 books you need to add to your summer reading list right now:

1.Making Space by Jane Hardy
In this quick read, founder and CEO of The Blurt Foundation Jayne Hardy takes readers on a journey to reconnect with their boundaries. Not only does this book get us back in touch with our existing boundaries––the ones that work for us and the ones that work against us––but it also guides us toward creating new ones in order to better protect our physical, mental, emotional, digital bandwidths.

2.The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown
This wouldn’t be a Leadology reading list without something from Brené. Her very first novel packs a punch with the incredible truth that “[your] story matters because [you] matter.” By pairing sage wisdom with reflection-focused activities at the end of each chapter, The Gifts of Imperfection is a must-read if you’re currently navigating a major life event.

Have you had your eye on pursuing Leadology’s Dare to Lead certification? This book is the perfect entry point to helping you choose authenticity and worthiness as a leader and human being.

3.A Year of Positive Thinking by Cyndie Spiegel

I’m so thrilled to be sharing the insight of my good friend Cyndie Spiegel in her novel A Year of Positive Thinking. This wonderful bedside read has helped me start every morning (yes, there’s an entry for every day of the year) with the opportunity to invite more positivity into my life. Chock-full with resources to help transform your mindset and inspire positive thinking thanks to daily doses of digestible quotes, mantras, and prompts, this book is a surefire way to instill a new sense of purpose into your life.

Stay on the lookout for more from Cyndie Spiegel with her new book on the magic of microjoys coming soon!

4 Crisis Proof Leadership: Where Opportunity Meets Preparation by Beth Rashleigh

Leadership coach and consultant Beth Rashleigh does all but shy away from difficult conversations in this transformational read. In Crisis Proof Leadership, Rashleigh uncovers what successful leaders do during times of crisis to place an overall emphasis on the values of empathy and focus. The last must-read on our list reinforces the idea that when we can’t avoid crisis as workplace leaders, the best we can do is equip ourselves with the skills to navigate it effectively.
